Research
The major goal of our team is to understand the mechanisms of endogenous brain repair processes occurring as a consequence of the cell loss in neurodegenerative diseases, with a particular focus on Parkinson Syndromes.
Our work focuses on the following aspects
For this purpose we use the following models
- The living human and rodent brain
- The human postmortem brain
- Toxin-induced mouse and rat models (MPTP, 6-OHDA, Rotenone, Annonacin)
- Transgenic mouse models (tau, alpha-synuclein, parkin)
- Neuronal cultures (primary, PC12, SHSY5Y, MESC2.10).
